Frequently Asked Questions

What happened to the number of days on the App Icon Badge?

support-countdown-star-app-icon-badge.png

We regret that this functionality had to be removed. We were informed by Apple that Countdown Star used badge notifications for unintended purposes. Specifically, it used badge notifications to represent a countdown timer. Apple now requires that badge notifications should only show the number of unread notifications an app has; not timers, temperature or other information.

The alternative for quickly viewing your favorite event’s countdown is the Today Widget. Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

Does Countdown Star work on Android devices?

Yes. Countdown Star is now available on Android devices as of April 7, 2018.

What are the system requirements for Countdown Star?

Countdown Star requires an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch running iOS version 12.0 or greater. For Apple Watch, Countdown Star requires watchOS 5.0 or greater. Find out which version of iOS you are running by launching the Settings app on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. Select the General category and then tap About. Scroll until you find the iOS version your device is running.

For Android, Countdown Star requires Android 4.4 and up.

Can the included events be deleted?

Yes. They can be deleted or you can edit and use them as a starting point for your own events. However, there must be at least one event for Countdown Star to function. Therefore, please edit the last event instead of deleting it.

Can the included wallpaper be deleted?

No. The included wallpaper cannot be deleted.

Is landscape orientation supported on iPhone or iPod touch?

No. At this time, there are no plans to implement this as a feature.

How do I display events on my Apple Watch?

There are two steps to displaying events on your Apple Watch.

  1. Install the Countdown Star app on your Apple Watch — This is done within the Watch app on iPhone. Select the My Watch tab, scroll to the Available Apps section and tap the Install button next to Countdown Star (may be labeled Countdown).

  2. An event must be selected to display on your Apple Watch — Within the Countdown Star app, select and edit an event. Scroll to the bottom and turn on the Display on Apple Watch switch. Tap Done.

The event should now display on your Apple Watch. You may have to Force Touch and Reload the events on Apple Watch. Repeat Step 2 for all events you wish to display.

If this doesn’t work, try resetting all events on your Apple Watch.

  1. Within the Countdown Star app, visit the Settings section (gear icon) and tap Clear Events on Apple Watch.

  2. Repeat Step 2 above to add events.
